Meet Dr. Miller

I am a mental health therapist who works with children and adolescents, adults, families and couples who may be struggling with grief, depression, anxiety, and relationship problems through telehealth (on-line) sessions. I use a humanistic approach and emphasize awareness in the here-and-now. I tap into Gestalt therapy, cognitive-behavioral and family system theories as well as utilize psychoeducational techniques.

Before closing my private practice after 22 years, I had worked as a Visiting Assistant Professor in Counseling, a Drug-Free School Coordinator, a High School Home School Advisor, and a Special Education Teacher. I have conducted a wide variety of workshops nationally and internationally for adults, parents and students. I co-led, for over 15 years, the Empowering Young Women’s Conference for girls in 5th through 12th grades.

Counseling Works!

In order for you to get the support and encouragement needed in difficult times, come willing to be open and honest. Think about and identify what you need and hope to achieve in your counseling sessions. All of your feelings are honored and will be validated. My job, as your therapist, is to act as a mirror and help you understand yourself better, provide skills needed for self-regulation, self-care and to facilitate clarity needed for decision making. The key to successful counseling is the working relationship we develop.

Issues discussed in counseling are legally protected as both confidential and privileged. Disclosure to a third party can only be made with your written consent. If the safety of you or others is seriously threatened, then I am required by law to disclose the information to the appropriate party. A Statement of Understanding will be provided during intake prior to the start of our therapeutic work.
